Éowyn was born in the year 2995 of the third age to Éomund,The Marshall of the Mark- and Théodwyn, sister to King Théoden. Éowyn was tall, slender and graceful and possesed a pride that came to her out of the South from Morwen of Lossarnach, whom the Rohirrim called "Steelsheen".

She was raised in Rohan with her brother Éomer until the age of 6 or 7. Éowyn's father was slain in the year 3002 on the borders of Emyn Muil while pursuing a small band of orcs, not long after, her mother became ill and died, much to the grief of King Théoden.

He took them into his house calling them son and daughter. In edoras, she learned the way of the blade, her skill was no less than her King's soldiers'and she was skilled in horsemanship.

During the War of the Ring, Éowyn fell in love with Aragorn Dispairing over his assumed death and dissatisfied with her role as care-taker to the ailing King while Rohan fell under darkness and her inability to fight for her people, she vowed to die an honorable death on the battlefield defending her people as a Shield-Maiden.

In the year 3012 of the third age on March 2nd, after being forbidden to join the men of Rohan in battle, Éowyn takes on the armour of a young soldier "Dernhelm" and hides her feminine features beneath a sturdy helm. Éowyn rides secretly with the men of Rohan to join the fight for Minas Tirith, the battle at the Pelennor Fields.

It was here she won the greatest fame of any warrior by standing over the mortally wounded King Théoden and fighting the Witch King of Angmar, the lord of the Ringwraiths.

Protected by the prophecy that he could not be slain by the hand of Man, Éowyn revealed that she was a shield-maiden and with her sword killed the winged beast on which he rode. Then, with the help of Merry Brandybuck, she slew the Witch King Himself.

In this struggle, however, Éowyn was overcome by the poison "Black Breath" of the Ringwraith, and fell into a death-like sleep. She was taken to the houses of healing, where under the watchful eye of her brother Éomer, she is attended by Lord Aragorn, Merry and Faramir.

After the War of the Ring, Éowyn recovered from both the evil spell of the Witch King and her infatuation with Aragorn. She falls in love with Faramir and they are married in that same year, after the downfall of the dark lord Sauron.

Éowyn put down her sword and became a healer and she and Faramir lived in Emyn Arnen the remainder of King Elessar's rein. The date of her death is unknown and she had at least one child, Elboron and a grandson, Barahir.

Known among her people as:
The White Lady of Rohan, Northwoman
Éowyn of Rohan, Lady of the Shield-Arm, Shield-Maiden of Rohan
Maiden of the Rohirrim, Dernhelm, The White Lady of Ithilian
